Last Thursday, transportation leaders, public agencies, consultants, technology providers, researchers, and students from across the Commonwealth came together for what proved to be one of our most successful conferences. Hosted by Harrisburg University in our capital, the conference delivered a full day of collaboration, innovation, and networking focused on advancing the future of mobility, safety, and Intelligent Transportation Systems throughout Pennsylvania.

Attendance exceeded expectations, with strong participation from industry professionals and public-sector partners eager to exchange ideas and learn about emerging transportation technologies. The conference agenda featured a series of highly attended technical sessions covering topics such as connected and automated vehicles, AI applications, freight mobility, connected corridor initiatives, and next-generation traffic safety analytics. Attendees praised the quality of the presentations and the practical insights shared by subject-matter experts from across the transportation industry.

One of the highlights of the event was the extensive networking that took place throughout the day. From the welcome reception and technical sessions to lunch discussions and exhibitor showcases, participants had numerous opportunities to build relationships, discuss challenges, and identify opportunities for future collaboration. The exhibitor area was particularly popular, providing attendees with hands-on exposure to innovative technologies and solutions that are helping agencies and organizations modernize transportation infrastructure and operations.

The conference also reinforced Pennsylvania’s leadership role in transportation innovation. Sessions focused on real-world deployment of connected vehicle technologies and data-driven decision-making demonstrations on how agencies and industry partners are working together to improve safety, efficiency, and mobility across PA. The Agency Update session generated significant discussion and optimism about future investments and initiatives that will continue transforming the transportation landscape.

The day concluded with the presentation of the organization’s annual awards, celebrating outstanding contributions to the transportation community. Congratulations to Dave Wolfe for deservedly being named our Person of the Year. Congrats as well to PennDOT District 3-0 and McCormick Taylor for winning Project of the Year for the SR 15 Curve Safety Improvements project. Attendees left energized by the knowledge shared, the connections made, and the collective commitment to advancing smarter transportation solutions. By every measure, the 2026 ITSPA Annual Conference was a tremendous success, further strengthening the ITS community and setting a high standard for future events across Pennsylvania.
