2020 ITSPA "Best of" Awards

Throughout 2019 and 2020 there are many individuals and projects across Pennsylvania, within State and local agencies, highway and transit operators, consultants and equipment suppliers that have exemplified excellence in ITS.  Whether its vision, advocacy, or implementation these people and projects have proven a great benefit to the general population as well as providing safety and efficiency of operations within an organization.  ITSPA wants to recognize these people and projects.  
 
The requirements for nominations are:
 
Person
The purpose of this award is to honor the individual who has made a significant contribution to the ITS and operations community.  Contributions can be advocacy, project, institutional, educational, operations or safety related. Past winners have been:

2012 – Dennis Prestash

2014 – Dom D’Andrea and Doug Smith
2015 – Rich Montanez

2018 – Todd Leiss
 
Project
A roadway operations project or program involving ITS and technology concepts, designs, and/or implemented in Pennsylvania that either began or were completed in 2019 or 2020. Nominations should be able to demonstrate the benefit(s), innovation(s), effectiveness, timeliness and efficiencies of the ITS project being nominated.  The project or program can include institutional research, governmental programs, public-private partnerships, and private industry. Nominated projects will be reviewed by the affected agency for approval prior to being considered for the award.
 
Nominations may come from any individual, including local, state, and federal agencies, as well as the company/team that has actually performed the work. All nominations will be reviewed by the ITS seven (7) person Awards Committee and winners will be notified prior to the above noted event.
 
Projects will be scored out of a total of 50 points, in the following manner:
  • Up to 20 Points to the project that has brought the most benefit to the ITS and operations community.
  • Up to 15 Points to the project that has brought the most innovation to the ITS and operations community.
  • Up to 10 Points to the project that has demonstrated it was completed on/near time as compared to the project schedule.
  • Up to 5 Points to the project that has was completed the most efficiently/effectively or had major intangible(s) above the other projects.
